It’s #EnglishTourismWeek22 - and here in Buckinghamshire there is so much to do for local residents and visitors alike.
On Saturday 19th March 2022 Greg visited four businesses in the sector.
First up was Chadwell Hill Farm Boutique Stay in Longwick, meeting owners Alan and Nicky. With stunning views of the Chilterns, Chadwell Hill Farm offers b&b in the farmhouse, alongside a wonderful Shepherds Hut offering. Find out more about this business at https://www.chadwellhillfarm.co.uk
Second on the tour was Orchard View Farm in Little Meadle. Orchard View is a personal family favourite of Greg's for a weekend full English breakfast in their cafe, but the offering is much wider with their rare breeds farm, farm shop, butchery and campsite. Greg was grateful to be shown by owner Jim Mackellar the first of their latest additions to the accommodation offering - new glamping pods! Third on the tour was Stowe House, meeting with Susy Pullen of the Stowe House Preservation Trust. Whilst the House is now home to Stowe School, tours of this historical gem in North Buckinghamshire are available and the perfect combination to a visit to the gardens at Stowe run by the National Trust. Greg very much enjoyed a quick tour, including the museum area and how part of the Culture Recovery Fund money they received has been used to improve the visitor centre. The final stop on the tour was The Oxford Gun Company in Oakley, meeting with Doug, David and Alex. The Oxford Gun Company is home to a fantastic clay shooting ground, where beginners and experienced shooters alike can enjoy the sport and hone their skills. Greg was pleased to hear about their Schools Challenge to help encourage more people into the sport and really enjoyed a lesson of his own whilst there and taking part in a film on clay shooting for The Shooting Channel which is due to be released in late April.
