Greg Smith MP has attended two exhibitions over the past week set up to help local residents formally object to proposals for a new mega-prison adjacent to HMP Springhill and HMP Grendon.
The Buckingham MP has been working closely with affected parishes and local Buckinghamshire Councillors to ensure the best possible fight is put up against the plans and to convince the Planning Committee at Buckinghamshire Council to outright reject the plans.
Greg said: “The sheer numbers of people coming through the exhibitions to learn more about how to object to this mega prison on planning grounds shows just how strongly local people feel about this.
"It’s simply the wrong place to build a mega prison. The roads won’t cope, yet more loss of rural land, biodiversity damage and visual blight.
"We need a break - this on top of HS2 and East West Rail is just unbearable for local communities.”
Central to the exhibitions was a toolkit produced to help people form their own objections to the plans - which can also be read here.
Greg said: "We need everyone who is opposed to this crazy idea to get in a valid, robust objection to the planning process. Please do read through the toolkit and get your objection in by 3rd September."
