News that High Street giant Arcadia has collapsed is extremely worrying. Our High Streets are so important, for small independent retailers, pubs, restaurants, bigger chains, the service sector and all of us as consumers.
In Princes Risborough, the town council have innovated in creating the Risborough Basket, an innovative scheme that enables people to order from local shops and have the goods delivered to their door. This has been a real lifeline for local businesses, but they have faced a number of regulatory burdens in setting up.
Today (2nd December 2020) Greg called on Business Minister Paul Scully to work with the Risborough Basket, to learn from them, and work to abolish those burdens so schemes like the basket can be replicated up and down the land.
Commenting, Greg said: "Anything that helps our High Streets must be worth fully exploring. I am delighted Minister Scully agrees and I look forward to ensuring he meets with the Risborough Basket creators and takes this forward. Of course it is also imperative we all shop local and support our local businesses."
