Greg took the opportunity of questions to the Leader of the House of Commons in Parliament today (19th November 2020) to congratulate Lewis Hamilton for securing his record equalling 7th Formula One World Championship on Sunday, having smashed through other records such with 94 race wins and 97 pole positions.
Greg argued that Lewis is now the most successful British sportsman.
Motorsport is incredibly important to the Buckinghamshire economy, with the southern half of the Silverstone Circuit in the county and many jobs dependent on all tiers of British motorsport, automotive engineering and supply chains.
Quoting Lewis Hamiltons radio message as he won the 2020 Turkish Grand Prix, confirming his 7th title, in which he said “For all the kids out there who dream the impossible you can do it too," Greg called for debate in the House of Commons on ensuring those children who dream can be encouraged to take up STEM subjects to become engineers, enter all levels of British motorsport, and follow in Lewis' tyre tracks.
