Greg Smith MP had an insightful meeting with Macmillan Cancer Support in Parliament earlier, who do incredible work to support people with a cancer diagnosis.
In Buckinghamshire around 3,000 people a year are diagnosed with cancer and in 2022 994 people in Bucks were helped by the Macmillan helpline.
The Covid pandemic left us with a horrendous backlog in cancer care, whereby it is currently the case that in June 2023, 57.1% of people starting cancer treatment in our local Healthcare Trust did so within 62 days of their referral. This must get better and Greg will continue to work to ensure people living with cancer get the treatment and support they need.
