On Friday 10th June 2022 Greg Smith MP personally drove new East West Rail Chief Executive Officer Beth West around local roads to show her the damage construction traffic has done.
Greg said, "We’ve been here before, but if there is one thing I refuse to do, it is give up hope on getting those who damage our roads to fix them. So today I was joined by the new East West Rail Company CEO Beth West and Cllr Steve Broadbent, Cabinet Member for Transport at Bucks Council, for a thorough and detailed inspection of the damage caused to our local roads by EWR’s HGVs. We agreed that EWR and Bucks Council will work collaboratively and efficiently to repair our roads with urgency. Beth West seems to have brought a breath of fresh air to East West Rail in terms of approach, but as ever the proof of the pudding will be in the eating, and I have once more urged those tasked with delivering EWR to prioritise the safety of local residents, many of whom will be using the new Winslow station. I will continue working for my constituents to ensure they can travel safely and securely in their local area."
