Last Friday (12th November 2021) Greg Smith MP visited Edlesborough and Pitstone Village Surgeries at their Edlesborough site, meeting with Dr Lee Mitchell and Pratice Manager Carol Mercer. They discussed various challenges facing primary care at the moment, especially in light of the impact the Covid pandemic has had on their work.
Greg said: "They have been open throughout the pandemic, with various restrictions in place at different times and the whole team are working absolutely flat out. I want to thank them - and all our GP surgeries - for everything they are doing.
"The issue of face-to-face appointments came up and I was reassured to hear everyone who needs a physical appointment will get one, with a significant proportion of all appointments happening in person. I know many are frustrated at telephone appointments, but it was explained to me how at a time when demand for GP appointments is markedly up, telephone triage is ensuring more people get their doctors attention on a daily basis, ensuring everyone who needs a physical appointment is invited in for one.
"I will continue to do everything I can to support our hardworking GP practices across the constituency, ensuring the best possible care for all."
