This afternoon Greg Smith MP welcomed the Home Secretary's new plan to combat anti-social behaviour, citing examples from around the constituency, including vandalism to a new £20,000 fence at a sports club in Winslow over the weekend. Greg is a huge believer in Broken Windows Theory: namely that by tackling the so called "lower level" crimes, you can bring crime down overall.
In short, the plan includes:
🚷 Vandals will be forced to repair the damage they cause (starting within 48 hours)
🚨 Police presence will increase in places that need it most and will have powers to test for wider range of drugs, and for wider range of reasons
🚯 Increased fines for people who selfishly fly-tip, litter, and graffiti, with this money going back into the local community
📲 A new simple way to report anti-social behaviour which will give you updates and allow you to challenge decisions
