Hope was the watchword of the day in Westminster. The MHRA has formally authorised the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine for Covid-19. The NHS stands ready to start vaccinating early next week. This means the UK is the first country in the world to have a clinically approved vaccine for supply.
Questioning Matt Hancock after his statement on this earlier, Greg was happy to congratulate all involved in this momentous news.
But he was also keen to ensure confirmation of the commitment both the Health Secretary and the Prime Minister gave him ahead of the tiers vote -- namely that come the tiers review on 16th December, so long as our numbers remain low and decreasing, Buckinghamshire could be considered on a more granular level, enabling the Buckingham constituency to be given the greater freedoms of tier 1, even if other parts of the county, such as the former South Bucks area, continue to have higher infection rates.
Happily his answer was a straightforward yes.
