The increases to Employers’ National Insurance is going to have a devastating financial impact on hospices. Before Christmas Labour snuck out a new funding package for hospices, but it looks like that won’t actually cover the costs of Labour’s own increase in NI.
I asked the Health Secretary whether he would confirm if the funding would cover this - but no answer was forthcoming. Will consider that a ‘no’ then. Outrageous.
