The UK Health Security Agency just last week warned of elderly people suffering heart attacks, strokes and chest infections as a result of the recent severe cold weather.
This afternoon I challenged the Health Secretary on the life threatening impact of withdrawing winter fuel payments from vulnerable pensioners.
His answer was absurd, not least as he seems to think pensioners on just about £13,000 are well off and don’t need the winter fuel allowance. I firmly disagree with Wes Streeting.
