This afternoon the new NPPF (National Planning Policy Framework) was published. Greg Smith MP was delighted to see a hard won new protection in the planning system for agricultural land, as agreed by Michael Gove this time last year, has survived the consultation period and is in the final document.
Greg said, "This is great news for giving planning authorities (in our case Buckinghamshire Council) and the Planning Inspectorate the ability to turn down inappropriate planning applications on the grounds that they would take away land used in food production. Am delighted to have played my part in getting this victory to better protect our countryside and food security."
