The massive build up of Russian troops on it's border with Ukraine remains hugely concerning. The Prime Minister, Foreign Secretary and Defence Secretary are demonstrating that diplomacy remains our preferred method of de-escalation, but we need strong and clear sanctions against those in Russia intent on causing chaos and risking countless lives. As part of that, Greg Smith MP was pleased to see new legislation for strengthened Russia sanctions come into force yesterday. The UK and our allies stand ready to impose severe sanctions on those closest to the Kremlin if there's a further Russian incursion into Ukraine. Yesterday Greg stressed to the new Europe Minister that we must remain united with our NATO partners in pushing back against unwarranted Russian aggression in Eastern Europe.
