This morning Greg Smith MP met with representatives from Gigaclear in Stoke Hammond, alongside Cllr Phil Gomm and Parish Clerk Jo Simonds.
Greg said: “It was wonderful to see the equipment they’ve installed to provide (now live) fibre broadband to every home in the village that want the service, delivering ultrafast speeds.
“We discussed the rollout of fibre to premises across the constituency, and I was pleased to hear that they have plans to serve 21,000 households with an ultrafast service, with c. 11,000 already live. I pushed them to keep going to get as many communities connected as possible. As an update they reported alongside Stoke Hammond, Wing and Winslow have now gone live, with Long Crendon, Haddenham and Brill imminent and Buckingham coming soon.
“I am very aware that there remain far too many local homes without decent internet speeds and I have regularly raised the need to get ultrafast broadband everywhere across the constituency with DCMS Ministers and other providers working in the area including Swish and Openreach. This is a very high priority for me and will continue pushing the government and providers to get people connected as fast as possible.
“I am also pleased to report that the Government has included Buckinghamshire in phase two of Project Gigabit, meaning we have been moved higher up the pecking order for a faster roll out of gigabit broadband to all homes.”
