This afternoon Greg Smith MP chaired a meeting in Parliament with Chiltern Railways Managing Director Richard Allan and other senior staff from the railway, with Parliamentary colleagues whose constituencies are served by Chiltern.
In a productive meeting they discussed:
- new rolling stock for the railway, including their hybrid train trials;
- the impact of timetable changes; car and cycle parking at stations;
- getting timetabling and train lengths back to normal post pandemic, as people return to the office (including Greg's own experience on a packed 0752 from Haddenham & Thame Parkway this morning that was only three carriages);
- weekend services overcrowding;
- decarbonisation;
- the impact of engineering works and better communication on planned maintenance;
- improvements in compensation for delayed services.
Greg said: "Chiltern have exciting plans for the future and I will continue to liaise closely with them to ensure they provide the best possible service."
