This afternoon (14th March 2022), Greg Smith MP warmly welcomed details of the Ukraine Sponsorship Scheme given by Michael Gove in the House of Commons.
The scheme enables people to sponsor Ukrainian individuals and families into their own homes and properties to stay, and there is funding provision for both sponsors (£350/month) and local authorities to cover extra demand for local services.
Greg said, "I know Buckinghamshire Council are ready to play their part in ensuring a warm Bucks welcome to those coming to our county from Ukraine, but to assist in their planning I asked the Secretary of State to confirm whether local authority funding would purely be for local council services, or if councils would need to use the funds to commission services from the NHS and other public services as well."
The application system will go live on Friday, 18 March, and more information is available online at www.homesforukraine.campaign.gov.uk.
