This afternoon Bucks Council Strategic Sites Committee heard - and rejected - the application for a new mega prison near Edgcott and Grendon Underwood.
Greg Smith MP said, “Following a huge team effort, from all parishes, hundreds of residents and Ward Councillors, which I have been closely involved with, I am delighted to say the Committee has just voted to reject the plans.
“I gave evidence to the committee alongside Cllr Angela Macpherson, Cllr Frank Mahon, Cllr Michael Rand, resident hero Rod Baker who has done so much to organise the opposition to this and representatives from Edgcott and Grendon Underwood.
“This application falls over on virtually every Planning policy, local and national.
“This is an important victory — and my efforts will now focus on making the case to government not to appeal.”
