Greg Smith MP was delighted that the Foreign Secretary announced a clear plan to fix the significant issues thrown up by the European Union's unacceptable interpretation of the Northern Ireland Protocol, and the threat it poses to the Good Friday Agreement, our economy and our United Kingdom.
Speaking after the Statement, Greg requested that she set a clear deadline by which a negotiated outcome must be achieved, before the UK takes unilateral legislative action to protect the Good Friday Agreement, our internal market, and Northern Ireland’s full and equal place as part of our United Kingdom.
Legislation could take some time to pass—but the problems need resolving now.
