Today Greg met with the new HS2 Residents’ Commissioner Stewart Jackson and Cllr Peter Martin, Deputy Cabinet Member for HS2/EWR at Buckinghamshire Council. We drove around key HS2 sites in the constituency, meeting with Cllr Frank Mahon in Steeple Claydon and Cllr Paul Irwin in Waddesdon on the way, to observe and discuss the ongoing disruption caused by this increasingly unaffordable mega project.
Greg said, "I trust that Stewart will take up my constituents’ deeply troubling experiences of the project. From unfathomably densely-worded works notices issued to property owners, to the continuously horrendous state of our roads after being chewed up by the project’s HGVs, I have urged him to bring these increasingly existential bi-products of this railway to the attention of the Department for Transport.
"I am also very grateful to our hard-working Council officers, Council Cabinet Members and local elected representatives in their seemingly never-ending task of helping to mitigate the project’s impact on residents and businesses in the affected areas. We shall continue fighting our corner to prevent Buckinghamshire Council and the good people of North Buckinghamshire from being taken advantage of by the project’s directors.
