Greg Smith MP visited Stowe Landscape and Gardens today (10 August 2022) to meet with the National Trust team and learn more about their conservation and restoration work.
The National Trust is busy this summer restoring Stowe to its’ eighteenth-century full beauty when visitors came from far and wide to wonder at its’ scale and grandeur.
Greg said: "It was fantastic to visit Stowe earlier today and meet with dedicated volunteers and staff. Stowe is a great destination which really puts North Buckinghamshire on the map. It provides a variety of experiences and enables visitors to get lost in its’ unique heritage, whilst the green surroundings provide massive benefits for physical and mental wellbeing.”
The team at Stowe are working hard to reinstate many of the lost temples and monuments that once adorned the gardens whilst undertaking maintenance on structures and lakes. The ongoing project of restoring Stowe has achieved many significant milestones.
During the visit, Greg met with volunteers, which Stowe heavily relies on for support.
Commenting on the vital work of volunteers, Greg said: “The gardens at Stowe are looked after by a team of staff and volunteers. If you care about the future of Stowe and want to continue seeing it evolve through restoration, there are plenty of opportunities to help out in a voluntary capacity.”
There are many ways to get involved in volunteering at Stowe, from greeting visitors, working in the garden, restoring buildings and much more. Stowe will provide training and support so you can develop your skills and make a real difference.
