This afternoon Greg Smith MP met with Energy Minister Graham Stuart MP to discuss when off grid households will receive the promised £200 support for their energy bills. Greg was delighted that he confirmed the intended timings for the £200 Alternative Fuel Payment scheme for households who use fuels such as heating oil, LPG or biomass to heat their homes. Payments will commence in February, with most payments being made that month through electricity suppliers. More details about how the government will target the scheme will follow soon in the new year. This will be via an application on the government website.
