Greg Smith MP was pleased to host the Motorcycle Industry Association (MCIA) and National Motorcycle Council in Parliament today to showcase both progress and challenges facing the industry as we transfer to net-zero. It’s clear that a rush to produce zero-emission motorcycles risks undermining the industry’s competitiveness. Like all forms of transport, motorcycles represent a diverse customer base and variety of uses across commuting, leisure and sport. A one size fits all approach using battery-electric does not address the fundamentally different uses for both the commercial and leisure markets, so Greg is calling on both the newly-formed Department for Energy Security and Net-Zero and the Department for Transport to listen to industry and work with both the MCIA and NMC to make the transition as seamless as possible.
