Greg Smith MP has been working with constituents in Askett, alongside Councillors in the Risboroughs Ward, to try and challenge a perverse decision by the Planning Inspectorate to permit illegally developed traveller plots on a field between Askett and Meadle, despite previous Planning Inspectors coming to the opposite conclusion. It is established that this land is meant to be a green buffer zone next to Princes Risborough and Greg is absolutely committed to doing everything he can to keep it that way.
Meeting with residents last week and seeing the subsequent petition, it is clear how strong public opinion is on this issue and alongside Cllrs Matthew Walsh, Alan Turner and Gary Hall Greg is calling on Buckinghamshire Council to legally challenge this perverse decision of the Planning Inspectorate.
In the House of Commons this morning, Greg also called for a debate to challenge how the Planning Inspectorate works and to explore necessary reforms to ensure Planning Inspectors are consistent in approach and actually put residents first.
