With significant boundary changes coming for the next General Election, the Buckingham constituency is being split three ways, with the wards of Buckingham East, Buckingham West, Great Brickhill and Winslow being coupled with wards currently in Milton Keynes South constituency to make a Buckingham and Bletchley seat, the wards of Ivinghoe and Wing becoming part of the new Aylesbury constituency and the wards of Bernwood, Grendon Underwood, the Risboroughs, Ridgeway East and Stone and Waddesdon joining Ridgeway West, Great Missenden, part of Chiltern Ridges and Wendover, Halton & Stoke Mandeville to form a constituency called Mid Buckinghamshire.
Last night local members of the Conservative Party selected Greg Smith to be the Conservative candidate for the Mid Buckinghamshire constituency.
Commenting, Greg said, "I am honoured, humbled and feel very fortunate to have been selected to be the Conservative Party candidate for the new Mid Buckinghamshire constituency at the next General Election.
"With significant boundary changes splitting the Buckingham constituency three ways, the option of seeking to defend the whole of my current constituency was never on the table, but I will continue to work hard for all parts of the Buckingham constituency until the next General Election is called.
"The Mid Buckinghamshire seat is where I live, where my children go to school and pre-school and I look forward to seeking re-election in the parts that transfer from the current Buckingham constituency, namely the council wards of Grendon Underwood, Bernwood, the Risboroughs, parts of Stone and Waddesdon and Ridgeway East and ask for the first time for the support of residents in Ridgeway West, Wendover, Halton and Stoke Mandeville, Great Missenden, Chiltern Ridges and the parts Stone and Waddesdon Ward and Ridgeway East ward not currently in the Buckingham seat.
"I want to thank those local members of the Conservative Party who formed the selection council for the ongoing trust they have placed in me."
