The Bart - Buckingham's Community Bus was in attendance at the Buckingham Pancake Race to relaunch the service to Buckingham and surrounding villages.
Commenting, Greg said, "It was a pleasure to welcome my constituency neighbour and Chairman of the Transport Select Committee, Iain Stewart to meet Bart charity trustees Patrick Fealey and Warren Whyte to discuss the benefits of community transport. Community Board chairman Howard Mordue and other councillors also had a chance to view the vehicles.
"Formally launched in 2020, the pandemic was not the easiest time to develop a new transport project, but despite the challenges, Bart has become a regular for many local groups such as the Buckingham Youth Club and the Rotary, and Bart wants to expand their services to more users.
"Bart, the original minibus is a 13 seat minibus with wheelchair lift, and is now joined by Bernadette, a wheelchair enabled car for smaller groups.
"The Bart project manager Ashely Waite - who equally runs the hugely popular Bernwode Bus Buckinghamshire (Bernie the Bus) in Waddesdon was on hand to demonstrate the vehicles, and to raise awareness of the two vehicles which are available to hire with or without a driver and had a steady stream of people interested."
Bart and Bernie also took the opportunity to advertise openings for new volunteers – for local or longer trips, with a choice of day or evening slots to suit volunteers’ availability. Contact Ashley on 07977401548 for more details if you can spare a few hours every so often.
