Man made synthetic fuels are carbon neutral, as the carbon at tailpipe is recaptured to manufacture the next lot of fuel. Yet synthetic fuels are taxed the same as their fossil fuel equivalents, discouraging their use in applications such as motorsport. Greg Smith MP asked the Chancellor to fix this anomaly at Treasury Topical Questions this afternoon.
