Greg Smith MP is very concerned about Arriva’s announcement that they intend to close their bus depots in Aylesbury and Wycombe, not least as neither Greg nor Buckinghamshire colleagues were given any prior notice.
Both neighbouring MP in Aylesbury - Rob Butler MP - and Greg Smith MP raised the issue with the Roads Minister in Transport Questions this morning and the Government has committed to working with us in Buckinghamshire to help find solutions.
Thankfully Carousel Buses, which already operate several routes in the Wycombe area have said they are ready to step in and take over Arriva’s routes in and around Wycombe, but Greg is currently working closely with Buckinghamshire Council to find a new operator to pick up Arriva’s X7 and X9 routes to/from Aylesbury.
Following a meeting this afternoon it looks hopeful such an operator may have been found but there is still more detail to work through. Many of Greg's constituents rely on these two major routes daily and Greg is doing everything possible to ensure they can continue operating and that all current travel passes can be used with any new operator.
